One from and one from backingwinds.Īnd you can have a look at some of the other HDR images I have made recently. Oyvind adds two good links to tutorials for HDR in Photoshop in the comments. It doesn’t make true HDR images, but will help you with that difficult dynamic range by combining several images in a different way.Īnd if this quick introduction was interesting you can go further by having a look at the HDR group on Flickr.

For Mac you can also try the free DRI maker. When you get back you need a computer and some HDR software.
#Photomatix pro 2.5 software
Some of the HDR software out there will try to adjust if you have moved the camera slightly between exposures.

The three exposures need to be identical. When you’re out in the field you need a digital camera that let you manually adjust the exposure value and a tripod or something to support the camera. All the three exposures are loaded into the HDR software to make an image that will show both the dramatic sky and the forest. One standard exposure, one with +2 stops and one with -2 stops. And the good news is that you don’t need to understand much of the mathematics, there are several tools to make HDR images and you can use most digital cameras when shooting for HDR.įor the image in my example I actually shot three versions. To put it simple, you combine several exposures into one using some magic mathematics.

One of them is called HDR, or High Dynamic Range photography. Or maybe you can? There are actually a couple of solutions. Open up the aperture or add some time to the exposure. And as you can see the ground is only a silhouette.

In the following image I adjusted for the sky. But you also want some details on the ground. You have a scene where the sky is dramatic and interesting. Can you take care of the details in both the highlights and the shadows? Here’s an example. The third factor is the so called dynamic range. If you compress an image to make a smaller file using the JPEG-system you will loose some quality. How many megapixels is your camera? Then, we have the compression. The resolution is probably the most common. Bug had been introduced in v5.0.2.īug fixed: When dragging image files to the Photomatix Pro icon while Photomatix Pro had not yet been opened, the "Merge to HDR Options" dialog showed behind the background window.īug fixed: Moving sliders of the Finishing Touch dialog did not refresh the image until slider was released, even though the "refresh continuously as slider moves" option was set in Preferences.īug fixed: Sony RAW files with the SRW file extension could not be loaded from the Open Panel to load a single photo. There are three main factors that influence the quality of a digital image.

The trial is fully functional and never expires, but adds a watermark to images produced with the most popular methods.īug fixed: When Nikon D610 RAW files were loaded, resulting image had red lines on the border. Merged images can then be adjusted by a range of options and settings to get the look that users want - from natural-looking results using exposure fusion to painterly, surreal or ultra-realistic images using the tone mapping mode.Ī free trial is available. Photomatix Pro merges photographs taken at varying exposure levels into a single HDR image that reveals both highlight and shadow details, with options for automatically aligning hand-held photographs, removing ghosts, and reducing noise and chromatic aberrations.
